Musical Biography Of Evan Caverninha Ege.
Drummer, Percussionist, Recordist, Musician.
Born in Appalachia, USA, 1978

1987:
First start to learn mechanics and function of the drumset in rock and pop music from my father,
Phil Ege at the age of eight.

1987-1996:
Continue on a self-study course using recodings, concerts, and by gaining experience in amateur rock bands continuously until age 18.

1996-2001:
Learned bass guitar and basic melodic/harmonic theroy from multi-instrumentalist/composer
John Robusto of Baltimore MD.  Played bass, drums, and percussion on recordings and in concert with Robusto during this period.

1998:
Acquired a set of congas and began to learn the techiques and functions of the percussionist from afro-latin percussionist
Kevin Davis of Richmond VA.

Studied darabuka, tar, middle eastern rhythm, and several types of folk flutes (bansuri, shakuhachi, quena) with
Stream Ohrstrom of Washington DC around this time. 

Perform and record as a member of the experimental, industiral doom-metal band
Gor-gy at this time

1999:
Continue semi-professional rock gigs (drumset) with bands like
Hypno-Coin and Soul Lace.  First professional gig (latin percussion) as a part of Robert Jospe's World Beat Workshops.

Learn basic techniques of berimbau and zampona (andean pan pipe) techniques from
Charry Garcia of Chile at this time.

2000-2003:
Continued semi-professional rock gigs as a part of
The Lecherous Metro while continuing to play intermittently with Robert Jospe and Kevin Davis in Workshops and with their band Inner Rhythm.

Began to study the folk, religious, popular music and percussion of Cuba more intensely at this time (conga, bata, shekere, cajon, etc.) with percussionist
Dominik Burch of Engelberg Switzerland. 

Intensive berimbau, udu, and frame drum Studies with
N. Scott Robinson in Timonium MD during 2003.

2003-Present:
My love of the music of Brasil takes me to Phoenix, AZ to play percussion with Brasillian Songwriter/Performer
Caji.

I am also currently playing M.P.B./Forro with the band
Som Brasil and studying drumset/percussion with Dom Moio.
