| The Conasauga has ninety species of fish and over twenty species of freshwater mussels. Recently the Tennessee Aquarium, Southeast Aquatic Research Institute, The Nature Conservancy, and local volunteers released approximately 900 freshwater mussels back into the Conasauga. |

| Dalton is the carpet capital of the world and the Conasauga is very important to this industry. Local companies assist the Alliance in many ways from financial to volunteer labor. |
