It seems like the last 20 years have flown by! After graduating from Bates in 1987, I migrated south to New York City to work for Train, Smith Counsel, a money management firm located in midtown. The '87 crash was somewhat challenging but I survived. Most people I knew got fired and went to law school -- figures. For the next 7 years I lived in a variety of character building apartments and worked my butt off -- I realize this is hard to believe based on my High School performance but is actually true. The stress and pace eventually took its toll and I had an awakening where I quit my job, met my wife and moved to California.
As I continued my migration to San Diego I worked my butt off again. This was tough as the weather in SD is better than you can possibly imagine. In San Diego, I founded the west coast offices of Security APL, a provider of portfolio accounting, trading and performance measurement systems. I enjoyed SD for the next 3 years, improving my golf game and racking up a TON of frequent flier miles commuting back and forth to the east coast where my wife was located -- this was not smart. In 1997 I sucked it up, married my wife Sharon and moved back east. My golf game has suffered but it was the best move I ever made.
Since being back east I have made my home in Fair Haven on the Jersey Shore. Bruce (as in Springsteen) lives down the street. I continue to work for Security APL, which is now CheckFree Investment Services, where I am Vice President of Product Management. I have two small children - Nicole (3) and Emily (9 months) who are a ton of fun.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone this summer.
