CALL FOR BIDS

Ist International Prize: "NUTRITION WITHIN THE MEDITERRANEAN"

 

Art. 1

The Municipality of Corato and the Community of Mediterranean Universities (CMU), in agreement with the Corato Association of Industrialists (A.I.C.), set up an International Prize worth 80,000,000 Italian lire (eighty million lire) entitled "Nutrition within the Mediterranean".

 

Art. 2

The Prize will be bestowed upon the candidate who submits the best original research on the relationships between nutrition and health within the Mediterranean Basin.

The topic in question may be developed not only from a medical and biological point of view, but also in terms of marketable goods and animal husbandry.

 

Art.3

Applications to participate in the contest (two copies plus relevant annexes), which can be produced in English, or French or Italian, must include the following information:

The applications on unstamped paper shall be forwarded, together with the relevant annexes, before July 15, 2001 to the following address:

Participation is open to everybody.

 

Art. 5

All the documents will be assessed by a Commission made up of the Mayor of the Town of Corato (Chairman), the President of CMU, the Culture Councillor of the Municipality of Corato, the Secretary General of CMU, the Coordinator of CMU President Office, a representative of the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), two representatives of the Spanish and Turkish scientific communities and of a geriatrician.

The Commission may, if required, ask for the opinion of other experts.

The judgement of the Commission is unquestionable. Should a candidate give up, the Prize shall be bestowed on the next candidate in rating list that will be made public before October 31st, 2001.

 

Art. 6

The Prize shall be bestowed upon the winner during a conference focusing on the topic of this Call for Bids.
