Patrol Narrative:  16:21 8 Jun 42  began patrol of SL-1  9-24S, 152-24E course 43 engines 2/3. 

12:19 Jun 9 Convoy spotted 7-00S, 153-59E heading 267 @9kts.  Changed course to intercept convoy which consisted of 2 Troop Transports, 1 Converted Factory Ship and 1 DD. 

14:32 Positioned sub so that the convoy would pass me on my port side while at all stop. 14:53 Fired tubes 1 & 2 at lead MR and 5 & 6 at trail MR. fired 3 at middle MR.  Only tube 3 missed.

14:55 Sound reports Target Destroyed for both TT’s. All ahead full fired 4 at CFS changed course to bring aft tubes to bear on target fired 8 both Duds. Crash dived to 300 engines all stop.  Waited for DD to search wrong area.  Sonar reported low speed CFS has changed course and is crossing in front of us. 

15:10 Periscope depth. 

15:37 Acquire CFS and fire 1 & 4. DD has reacquired us and is closing.

15:39 CFS target destroyed. Crashed to 300 all stop.

15:53 Endured DC barrage for 1 ½ hrs.

18:00 DD no longer a threat surfaced to recharge air and batteries and continued patrol.

10 Jun 42 06:10 SD radar 15,400 remain on surface to detect vessels.

06:25 3 Aircraft spotted. Crash Dive order given.

06:28 ship spotted, aircraft attack no damage sustained while in process of submerging.  At 300 all stop.

07:15 DD acquires us while submerged at all stop.  Endure DC barrage for 1 hour.

09:26 sound reports all clear. Order radar depth no sign of enemy.

09:30 surface to recharge batteries and air supply.

10:52 resume patrol ahead 2/3.   

10 Jun 42 23:30 Convoy spotted 06-25S, 155-32E heading 133 @9kts.  Change course to intercept. 

11 Jun 42 01:02 ordered all stop with convoy consist of 1 Oil Tanker, 1 Large Freighter, 1 Small Freighter and 1 DD on my port side. Fired tubes 5 & 6 at Large Freighter, 7 at Small Freighter and 7 & 8 at Oil Tanker.  All hits and all destroyed.

01:04 Crash dived to 300 until DD searched and left area.

11 Jun 42 02:25 surfaced and returned to base.
