Sept 42 Encountered convoy at 6-20S, 156-09E consisting of 3 DD’s and 5 MR’s.
Maneuvered into firing position and fired at Lead vessel dud. Fired at Small
Freighter Sunk. Fired at Troop Transport 1 dud then sunk. Crashed to 300 meters
all stop. Until DD’s left area.
19:23hrs. Surfaced, recharged batteries and continued patrol.
20:18 6-22S, 156-03E Visual Sighting Convoy consisting of 3 MR’s and 3
DD’s. Maneuvered into attack position and fired at 3 MR’s. 2046 Sunk Supply Ship 6-20S, 156-06E
21:40. Crashed to 300 all stop. Endured
DC barrage until DD’s left area. 21:15
surfaced recharged batteries and continued patrol. 22:33 6-16S, 156-13E Visual Sighting 4 DD’s and 7 MR’s. Moved into attack position fired 2 fish at
Small Freighter and 2 fish at Standard Merchant 6-18S, 156-13E. Sunk Both 22:45, 2247hrs. Crash Dived endured
3 hour DC barrage. Surfaced and
returned to port. 01:30 7 Sept 42.
