Began Patrol
0100 11 Aug 43. Convoy spotted 0037 12 Aug 43 21’18N, 105’39E. Maneuvered into position within convoy and
began attack. Sunk 4 MR’s Troop Transport, 2 Large Freighters and a
Supply Ship 21’19N, 109’47E. Surfaced
to pursue fleeing MR’s. Used deck to sink damaged Standard Merchant 21’19N,
109’48E 13410.
Sustained damage to aft tubes and engines. Pursued and
sunk Oil Tanker 21’16N, 109’49E 15320
Sunk Standard Merchant 21’13N, 110’02E 13410. Fire in compartment forced to return to base. Awarded Navy Cross, Bronze Star. Hull Damage 10% System Damage 9%.
