Patrol Narrative:

Entered Philippine island area on Jan.13, 1944 at a position of 21-46N 123-50E heading 194" true (sector 9). Enroute to assigned patrol zone encountered a medium convoy consisting of 6 merchants and 3 escorts bound for Northern zone. Considered them ToPs (Targets of Opportunity) and attacked sinking 2 standard Merchs and priority oil tanker.

Proceeding to assigned patrol zone, encountered another medium convoy consisting of 8 merchs and 3 escorts. Attacked and sank 1 supply and 2 Lg. Freighters. At this point I wish to add that Jap ASW is getting better (Thanks to a loud mouth Congressman)

Received a photo recon assignment for Manila Bay on Jan.18, 1944 to be completed by 02:52.As Redfin proceeded to assigned mission encountered a small convoy exiting entrance to Manila Bay, consisting of 1 oil tanker 2 small freighters 1 Lg. Freighter and 4 escorts. Attacked convoy, sinking Oil Tanker. Ensuing depth charging resulted in forward battery compartment damage and periscope rendered useless resulting in cancellation of recon mission. Finally broke contact with ASW vessels and headed for Port.
