Western Washington has a very moderate climate without extremes in either the summer or winter months (but it does rain quite a bit from Fall to Spring). With the Olympic mountain range to the west and the Cascades to the east, activities for the outdoorsman are abundant, while Seattle, Tacoma, and the local communities provide a wealth of cultural and entertainment opportunities. You should be pleased to have orders to such a beautiful and accommodating community.

When we receive your orders, you will be assigned to the command sponsor team who will be available to answer any questions you may have and/or to assist you in any way possible. Please advise the sponsor team of your expected arrival date either by plane or if you're arriving by POV and any assistance you may require.
The Sponsor Team is the newly reporting Sailor's primary source for help in getting settled. If you have orders to the LAND and need to request a sponsor, please use the contact link to notify the ship. In your email, include your name, rank/rate, detaching and reporting dates and your orders' Date-Time Group.
All this information will enable us to better provide you the information you need to make a successful transition to USS Emory S Land. Remember to ask if you have any questions. We're looking forward to your arrival.

As soon as you receive a confirmed flight itinerary, e-mail the information to us immediately, please.� This information will allow us to track your travel until you reach the airport. We will set up to have a driver there upon arrival. He or she will be waiting for you right outside the baggage claim area with a US NAVY sign in hand. A duty host will provide transportation from the airport to the ship.� If you are traveling unaccompanied under orders to the USS EMORY S LAND (AS-39), you will be required to report directly to the ship.
You will also be given an opportunity to pick up some essentials from the NEXMART. We will also give you an opportunity to call or email your family to let them know that you arrived safely.�
