Speed up your Modem port
You only need to use this tweak if you have a dial up modem! Description: Speed up the buffering of data between your modem and your modem port. This enables your modem to retrieve information faster. Speed up your modem port! 1. Double click on the 'My Computer' icon 2. Double click on the 'Control Panel' icon 3. Double click on the 'Modems' icon 4. The 'Modem properties' window will now appear, make sure the 'General' tab is pressed and click 'Properties' 5. A new window will now appear, make sure the 'General' tab is pressed and write down which port your modem is connected to, i.e. my modem is connected to: COM2 6. Close all of the windows that you have just opened, go to your desktop and click on the 'Start' menu 7. Click on 'Run..', type in 'win.ini' and press 'Enter'. 8. The 'win.ini' file will now open, scroll down to the heading: [Ports] 9. Under the heading [ports] you will Find the COM port that you wrote down in step 5, change it's values to: 921600,n,8,1, For Example: My modem is connected to COM2, so I would change the values of COM2: From: COM2:=9600,n,8,1,x To: COM2:=921600,n,8,1, 10. Open the 'File' menu at the top of the screen and choose 'Save' 11. Open the 'File' menu again and choose 'Exit' Please Note: If you get connectivity problems after carrying out step 9, please reset the port settings back to default.
