Get anti-virus and firewall (included
on a router or if you don't have one, you need to install a firewall on
your computer) to defend your computer. I can't help you on firewalls,
since there are so many different ones...

Get a spyware removal tool too!
Anti-virus doesn't remove spyware or adware, so getting these is
mandatory. SpyBot Search and Destroy and AdAware should both be installed
for maximum removal potential. Also, install SpyWareBlaster by JavaCool
Software to defend from most spyware sites and cookies. All the links to
the files I've named can be found here.

Empty your Recycle Bins to regain
some disk space.

Remember, DON'T open attachments in
your e-mails that look suspicious!
