Hello
Everyone
Here's
the latest from Kavastu. For those of you like me who love getting to
know the Hulse's, there are some family notes in here too. You'll have to
read the detailed version though. :-)

Tuesday update from Jim Hulse
Short
update

Wednesday update from Jim Hulse
No
electricity at the site. The well people came - but didn't have
electricity!! Details about the work getting done. And now - no way to
get home. Their airline tickets are no good.
~~
A reply to Jim's Wednesday update
The
Hulse's send their daily news to about half a dozen people.... maybe a few
more. One of them responded to all of us on the mailing list. He
started a fund to get the Hulse's home - his contribution.... $500.
Pretty neat.

Thursday update from Jim Hulse
The
electricity is back on. More work done... and a new tower is discovered a
few miles away. It appears it might be a cell tower. This is a good
thing. It will help the coverage at the site. More info about the
tickets. Please keep this as a matter of much prayer.

Good
Morning from the Dairy
It
is a dark, hazy cool morning and it looks like it could rain any moment.
However, it is a good morning.
Tom
just left with Phil after we had prayer thanking the Lord for sending him and
asking the lord for a safe timely trip home. They will meet Paavo,Woody and
Rosie at the radio station in Tartu and then proceed to Tallinn.

Subject: Wednesday
Hello
to all.
Tom
took Phil to meet Paavo, Rosie and Woody to go to the air port in Tallinn.
No
electric today at the site. They are still playing in the trenches. Several
power company people on site several times today. I said to Paavo maybe I
should ask the Russians to come and fix it for them.
I
gassed up the generator for tonight and left another can near by.
Tom
and I installed over 400 feet of barb wire today.
I
spread several tons of stones in the tower compound and completed one inner
anchor. Really looks good.
Tom
is installing the kitchen floor. That's looking real good.
The
well man was here this morning. He was upset that we had no power. I can't help
that.
People
are going picking cranberries today. One van had a boat and they got back late,
just before dark. Tom and I was still working.
Paavo
on site late today.
Cayla
was missing for a while today. When she got home we said where have you
been??????
Katrin
and I went across the river and went fishing with Miitie the ferry driver. I
caught some too she said. He gave me all this stuff to bring home. Normally I
would have been overly concerned on the gifts but he is so giving and
gives so much to us Americans. She had some metals and a watch and some old
money.
Last
Sunday Cayla said I'm going to a school to play on the playground equipment
with some of my friends. How are you getting there we said? Oh we are going to
hitch hike. All the kids do it. I think not!!!
I'm
still amazed at how all the bikes disappear every day and they all come home at
night. The neighborhood kids ride then and bring them back. Only in Kavastu,
not Chicago.
Weather
was a little cool today, We notice every day is shorter on day light and
colder.
Paavo
tried to get our return tickets today for going home. They said they are no
good and we must buy all new ones. With what we ask?? As of now we have no
tickets to come home on. What else can happen?
And
so it goes Wednesday October 4th 2000
May
God be with You

Howdy,
as Phil would say. He has all the neighborhood kids saying, Howdy.
Power
was turned on at noon today.
Today
I made and installed 2 brackets to hold 2 insulators each for the tower feed
assembly.
Installed
4 6" copper straps to ground the ice bridge.
Installed
last ground on the corner post on the tower fence.
Installed
the last part on the 6' gate assembly.
Silver
soldered flexible ground straps on all gates at the tower.
Applied
stones to the last 2 inner anchors.
Applied
more stones under the ice bridge.
Finished
the stones on the last part around the tower fence.
Rewire
the tower light feed again now that power is back on.
Tom
working on kitchen floor.
Coming
home tonight I did a double take on my vision. There near Kavastu was a brand
new tower going up and 3 men were working on it. This definitely has to be
checked out. Driving closer I noted it is across the river and a little towards
Tartu. A few miles later I arrived at the site. By now the men had left and it
was almost dark. Looking at the equipment it will be a cell tower. This should
help the coverage at the site. I was amazed that their winch was attached to a
large piece of concrete directly under the jin pole. No block, just straight
off the drum and straight up to the jin pole. This means that the winch
operator is directly under the load and work in progress. Not on my job!!!! Oh
well, I may stop during the day tomorrow.
Gretchen
is checking on our tickets to come home. We had no clue that we would have this
problem. Back in day one they canceled our flight over and when we rebooked
they did not have enough room for all of our family so Boo and I came 10 days
ahead to the rest. Then they lost some luggage which we are still waiting
for. I would think they should cut us a little slack here as they have caused
us considerable problems. If they do insist that we purchase new tickets
we do have a problem as we only have a couple thousand kroons to last us until
we leave.

And
that's all for today. More to come I'm sure. Please don't forget to
keep our friend in prayer - the girl who is facing some major life
decisions. There is so much prayer needed here that I really should have
put it at the top of this note..... Just ask God to intervene and
have His will.
