Greetings in Jesus name!!

I had planned to start writing just a brief summary paragraph at the beginning of these posts so those people who really aren't able to read alot of content would still know how to pray.  However, I STRONGLY encourage you to read as much of this one as possible.  It is unique for sure.

Today's news from Estonia will definitely influence the way you pray for this country of hurting people.  I try not to add too much of my own writing when sending these updates because they are already so long without my help.  However this time I just have to comment.

When CJ went over this summer with team #1 I sent 10 rolls of film with him.  It wasn't enough.  After he got home, we were able to get a second mortgage on the house in order to pay for film developing (just kidding - we went to Costco so we were able to avoid the second).  When we looked at all the pictures there wasn't a single one that I thought was a waste.  Each one showed work taking place or the people there who I know will be ministered to by this station.  I would have to say though that the pictures that had the greatest impact were the ones that showed the faces of some of the natives there.  It was OBVIOUS who knew Jesus and who didn't.  There was a sadness in the eyes and on the faces of those who don't have that "joy unspeakable" that we sing of.

As I learn more about this country and the tragedy's they have experienced, I have come to understand WHY they are so sad.  My heart breaks for them and I have prayed for them even more diligently as I have read more and more about them.  There have been some stories that I have not been at liberty to share, knowing that if I COULD share them without betraying a confidence or embarrassing someone, it would give all of you a better understanding of the URGENCY with which we need to pray.

Today's update will do that.  I am so thankful to be a part of this ministry and want all of YOU to know how glad I am that you are praying.  There is no greater cause than the one we are praying for - that these people who Jesus died for will come to know Him and live for Him.... that they will know the peace and love God wants to fill their hearts with.

Most of the fence is complete.  256 feet remains to be done at the tower.  Ice shield installation continues. Landscaping continues. The Well people have not returned to finish the job and are NEEDED. An unmarried couple who don't know Jesus has applied to live at the site.  It appears there may be some illegal operations by a few Russian men is taking place at the dock there.  "They look like the Mafia."

~~ Note from Rosie - Monday 10/2

Woody has been released from the hospital and plans to fly back to the States on Wednesday.  He was running a fever but that seems to be under control.

~~ Monday update 10/2 from Jim Hulse and a tragedy

Jim & Corey Hulse received their Visa's.  They are legal now.  A local man who has been around there off and on this summer hung himself near a warehouse we are using at the site.  The Hulse's 7 year old daughter, as well as a few other children, were there and saw him.

THE LONG VERSION

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~ Sunday update from Estonia
Greetings
We worked on the tower fence today. Wish Steve was here to help us. He is so good on fences. We have 256 feet just at the tower to install. All the rest is done.
We also continued the ice shield installation for the tower feed. This must be well built to with stand heavy ice falling from 800 feet. We have over 1,000 pounds of steel in it now and a lot of welding. It will take a day just to paint it.
The neighbor woman was walking to town so we gave her a ride.
The unmarried couple who want to live at the site was there to look some more. Connie told them that if they are not married we don't want them living in sin there. She also shared the gospel with them and told them they need to be saved and serve Jesus.
We need the well people to find their way back to the site and finish the job. Maybe I should draw them a map.
More evergreen trees have been planted by the building. Have over 30 now. Really looking good.
The stones I ordered last week must be with the well guys some where else. They didn't find there way to the site.
Another beautiful day at the site. Connie was able to get the camera to work on a couple pictures. If she was up I would send some to you.
The boys mother came to the dairy who we took to the hospital a few days ago. Her son is doing better. A nice visit.
We had a whole herd of motorcycle by the dairy yesterday. They took the ferry across the river.
Here is one to ponder. Yesterday and other days we have seen this boat come up river to the dock here and meet a white van. The van driver is always on his cell phone. They are always unloading a bunch of cargo and taking back on board barrels of fuel or something. We were talking with Monte and asked him about them. He said they were Russian and from Russia. This is the first port they can unload their stuff. I pointed at the Estonian flag they were flying and he just laughed. He said I hate them. We were just wondering just exactly what kind of business they are doing and is it legal? I am sure they are paying import taxes and all, right. The scene is just like you see on TV at home when some illegal operations are taking place. I kept watching for Walker or Rambo to appear out of the bushes and arrest them. At least we haven't seen any guns yet. We thought about taking their pictures but decided that may not be good. They look like the Mafia.
And so it was Sunday October 1, 2000
Love from all the crew
~~ Note from Rosie - Monday 10/2
Hello to all:
We are her at the dairy with Jim, Connie and the gang, so I'm taking advantage of their computer!!  Woody was released from the hospital Friday and has been laying with his foot up at Paavo and Mare's house.  He was running a low grade fever and his leg was swelling, so yesterday I called the doctor in ICU.  He says I think I will send Doctor ????? out to see him.  About a half hour later the doctor that is the head of ICU showed up in the ambulance.  Woody says "I AM NOT GOING BACK TO THE HOSPITAL!!!"  This doctor was very concerned and gave us some salve with heparin in it and said to put it on Woody's leg.  His fever broke about midnight last night.  He soaked the bed sweating, but woke up this morning feeling good.  He says it feels like the Lord put his hand on him during the night.  His leg is swelling some today, but not like it was.
We will be home Wednesday night.  Came out here to have dinner with the gang and get Woody's suitcase.  He has his leg up.......all ok.   Love to all....Rosie
~~ Monday update 10/2 from Jim Hulse and a tragedy
The day started out like a Monday.
We raked two bucket loads of stones in the fence area and the loader removed them from the compound. This is inside the fence area at the tower.
One half of the fence fabric was installed today on the last fence at the tower.
Stones were placed on one forth of the area. One truck load. Waiting for more stones.
Mounted light on corner post and wired it up.
Today the government office called on our resident visas and we need to be in their office at 2:30 PM today. First we needed to go to the bank and pay 500 kroons each and a 25 kroon fee. We told the bank we must have 2 receipts. They would not give us 2 but only one. Back in the car and a mile to the government office where they told us we must have 2 receipts. This is getting old fast. Then they said the bank would refund our money in 2-3 weeks and we now must pay another 1,000 kroons and another bank fee. I don't think so. I went back to the bank with Connie and Riina and it was all straightened out and No we did not pay twice on that. They decided that Corey is over 15 so he must pay as a adult now. More hassle but all done now. We are legal finally.
TRAGEDY, almost home from town we were met by Cayla and friends in the road by the warehouse we used this summer. They said a man has hanged himself and they are waiting for the police to come. Phil, Corey and I waited for the police and it appears the corner came and they opened the door and took pictures. Many were there to see the tragedy. Twenty six years old with a baby and 4 year old at home. He was very white. We did not wait for them to take him down. Phil and I were sad to whiteness such a scene. This was across from the warehouse we used. Down the same driveway.
I just wonder if we some how failed at reach this lost soul and was there something we could have done to prevent this. I talked with his friend who said he was fine last night but he was having trouble with his wife. I keep thinking if we only had Rev Mitchell here to preach to these folks. Connie says the dairy would be a good place to start a church. Maybe if there was one here this man could have turned his troubles to the Lord or have been counciled in time.
Woody and Rosie just walked in and will have supper here tonight. They are going home on Wednesday with Phil.
And so it was Monday October 2, 2000
God Bless You All
Some of you may like more info on the hanging.
It's a shame that the neighborhood children was a whiteness to such a event. Cayla included. It was the children who ran to us with the news on what they saw.
The man who I have seen many times this summer had climbed on top of a red car in the garage and put a rope over a truss and continued with the process. One thing Phil and I noticed right away was his feet could reach the car and he could have stopped at any time. His hands were free too. He must have felt there was no hope and life is not worth living any more. He probably did not know to call on Jesus and to give him the burdens he carried.
Shortly after the pictures were taken by the coroner a cab came to the garage and the mans wife got out and went to her husbands side sobbing and heart broken as she looked up at him knowing that she now had to continue life with out him and raise their two children alone.
Tonight we were talking with Paavo and he said this is quite common here and especially at Christmas time. People get so lonely and sad that they feel life is not worth living any more. How terrible. We also discussed having a church in this village which would be good. Paavo said that there are a few churches in other towns and they are empty on Sundays.
Monty the ferry driver said a few years ago he missed his neighbor friend up the road past his house on the left and he went looking for him and he saw him through the window hanging there. He had another friend who hanged himself but the rope broke and he had a scar around his neck but he lived.
These are a beautiful people who are not Heaven bound and desperately need the Lord!!!!
We must pray and act on helping this community.
In His Service
