Greetings!!

Seems when it rains, it pours. For so long I had NOTHING to send you, now I am - quite thankfully - getting information on a pretty regular basis - YIPEEEE. So - here is GREAT news to pass on too.... Woody will likely be released this weekend. If I get anything more specific (or for that matter anything at all) I'll be sure to send it on.

~~ Note from Rosie

I just came back from the dairy. Went to get some clothes for Woody.
He will be released tomorrow am, and he is feeling and looking very well.
Steve Bowman left yesterday, so they don't need the extra car now and I
am using it. I sure never thought I would be driving here, but it's
really not bad. All is going good, not much news. Have been spending
most of my time making airline changes and sitting at the hospital: I
feel rested and so does Woody!!! See you all next week. Love, Rosie

~~ Wednesday update from Jim Hulse

Hello Folks

We were up and at AM extra early this morning. Took Steve to meet Paavo to go to the airport.

We were a little delayed as we spent time scraping ice off the windshield. Was very thick. Have no regular scraper so we use credit cards. The heater felt good.

At the site Aare spent over a half hour trying to start the tractor. The old girl just wouldn't fire up. Then it was my turn as I have had experience with older women before. I gave her a big hug and kissed her right on the radiator and she fired right up. You just gotta know how to treat them.

Poor Aare, I noticed when we were finished tonight he couldn't walk forward and he walked backwards all the way home. To much time in the tractor today backing up. Actually I think it was his head that wouldn't turn back to the front. We thought about some one holding his head while the rest of us twist his body around to align his head.

Yes, the radials are in, except the special runs behind the island and over the road. All main radials are installed!!!! Tomorrow we plan to repair and silver solder them to the 6" strap.

The electric company was on site today and plowed a cable to Aare's home. They will feed it from our transformer. I saw them all looking at the transformer and how they were going to get a hole in the metal siding to allow access for the new cable. I provided a drill and hole saw and made the hole. They are not use to such high tech equipment. They usually bring a big gun and shoot the hole in.

Critter report, 3 foxes, several flocks of geese heading south ( they must have missed the Finnair flight)

This morning Taavi, Ester and Tiit was on site to see the progress. Maybe Taavi will give a report.

Took several pictures of the fall colors. So beautiful

.And so it was, today Wednesday Sept 27, 00

~~ Thursday update from Jim Hulse

Greetings from Kavastu Estonia, The land of beautiful fall colors.

What a day.

We have finished all radials!!!!!!!!!!

We have silver soldered all radials to the 6" copper strap.!!!!!!

We have plowed ground wires to the 3 outer anchors.!!!!!!

The electric company was back in site today. Now they are hooking up Aares house. They needed to modify the lugs to fit the connections. They used our shop to saw, cut and smash the connectors to make them work. Finally at 12:30 we locked up the container and left the site for lunch.

On the way to the dairy we saw a car coming at us flashing their head lights so we stopped and Corey got out and came to us in the pick up. He said there is a emergency at Kavastu and we are needed there immediately. He jumped in the back of the pick up and we headed for the village. He told us where to go.

A friend of Caylas was injured and the ambulance was not available to take him to the hospital. Upon arrival at the boys home we were met by several people and the boys mother. Steve and Boo got out of the pick up and would walk to the dairy for lunch. We loaded the injured boy, his sister who speaks English and the mother. The 4 of us headed to Tartu hospital, all crammed in the pick up.

Made good time all the way. Now I knew where to go as we took Woody to the same place. We drove to the emergency entrance and they got out and went inside while I parked the truck. Well guess who I parked by? Rosie was just leaving but decided to show me where Woody was so I could see him.

Had a short visit with Woody. He looked real good today and is planning to be released tomorrow.
He still has blood clots in his leg and will probably stay there.

I went back down to the emergency room to see how the progress was going. Boy and mother was taken to a room some where else. I gave the little girl 200 kroons for a taxi back to Kavastu and left.

Worked at the site till dark.

Steve got the radials all soldered in. Tom and Steve started to dig the rest of the fence posts.

Tonight the report on the little boy was Yes there is a broken bone in his shoulder. He came home with some braces of some kind. Have not seen him yet. He was a trooper and did not cry as he was in much pain.

I felt that I really did not have the time to make the hospital run but they were depending on us to help.
I guess if the shoe was on the other foot I would have appreciated the help.

And so it was in Kavastu, Thursday September 28, 2000.

Blessings
