SPEEDING UP YOUR STARTUP
Whenever you boot your computer,
Windows 98 automatically scans your
hardware to see if a new floppy disk
drive has been added since the
last time it ran. If you know for sure
that you're not going to be
adding a new floppy drive any time
soon, you can disable this action
and save yourself a second or two of
boot time.
To disable the search for a new floppy
drive, right-click on My
Computer and choose Properties. Click
the Performance tab and then
click File System. Click the Floppy
Disk tab and uncheck the box that
says Search For New Floppy Disk Drives
Each Time Your Computer Starts.
Click OK twice to exit.
