Description
Firewire
- The institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) 1934 standard, Originally created by Apple Computer, that offers a high-speed method of connecting peripheral devices to a host computer.

Explaination
- Invented by Apple Computer in the mid-1990's, Firewire has become one of the leading peripheral standards. Firewire can be used to connect devices such as digital camcorders, digital cameras, hard drives, and MP3 players, such as the Apple iPod, to your computer. Its uses are similar the USB, Firewire can transfer data at 400 Mbps, which is roughly 30 times faster than USB1.0 and Firewire800 can transfer at a rates upto 800Mbps.


This blazing speed allows for quick transfers of large video files, which is great for video-editing professionals. Firewire enables up to 63 devices to be daisy chained to a computer or each other using thin, inexpensive cables.Firewire is also known as "ieee 1394" and as "spec P1394". Both terms refer to the same serial input/output technology.
