- Broad band networks provide a number of frequency bands or channels within the total bandwidth (frequency division multiplexing) and thus allow simultaneous use by different devices on the network.
Generally, one channel is dedicated to the user workstations, leaving others free for transmitting voice communications, video pictures and so on.
