Musky issues & shout outs and sometimes simply shouts. All things musky. C&R works so leave some for the next guy...

HEAT WAVE MUSKIES have a poor chance for survival when surface temps get into the broil zone. Over 80* F signals the starting threshold with 83*-85* F beginning to pose a serious threat to successful C&R. Shorter fights means heavier gear so chuck those Snoopy Poles when you must fish for the toothy one in the heat.
The classic no-win situation usually occurs when you're on vacation. All pumped and ready to cast until your shoulders ignite, the vacation warrior finds surface temps at 86* F at 11 am on Lake XXX. Stop and save the poor fish? Probably not but had you hit the water at crack of dawn or sunset or even at night, you would have found much cooler water temps and you'll be giving the fish a MUCH better chance of survival.
A BIG heat wave is upon us. 105* F heat index reading predicted. Give yourself a break. Fish at night and sleep in the day. C&R for the whole family!
