| ...... claiming his lost wages from the train company for keeping him here! He thought that the company should at least refund his ticket. I don't blame him for thinking that. Finally, after an hour of waiting, the driver at last told us that the train was disabled (which prompted a cry of "No shit Sherlock!" from one of the passengers) and were told to get off the train to wait for a bus to take us furthur down the line. If there was one thing that was good about this experience, it was the fact that I got a chance to jump off a train. Sure, it might sound sad, but it would have been good for you too if you were in my situation. We waited by the road that we just passed before the train stalled. More bad news was to come. Since all the buses were being used to take students to school, the train company made the very wise decision to call up two buses from a place ridiculously far away. It would take at least an hour for them to reach us. While this was going on, the bell from the level crossing kept ringing and it nearly made me start a killing frenzy. Hey, you would too if you heard that for half an hour! Many people were starting to go home. In fact, I nearly went home, but I couldn't. Remember the swimming competition? What a mess! After an hour and a half, the buses finally came. Luckily I was right next to the door so I managed to get a seat. However, even though my bus was the first one to come, it was the last one to leave. This was because everyone (especially the company officials who were there helping) were so disorganised that it took us about 20 minutes for the bus to leave. Good God, I've seen young children pack into a bus quicker that that! After a surprisingly quick bus trip, we reached a station furthur down the line. Finally, after changed trains at the end of the line I reached school just before recess at 10:30- two and a half hours later than usual! But other things annoyed me later on. I asked my friends if they were late as well, but they weren't. And do you know why? They took a train later than mine. But shouldn't they have stopped as well since my train was blocking the line? No, for you see, they were diverted to the main line. They were probably in one of the trains that I so go past. And also, a couple of days later, I was threatened with a detention if I came later again that day. What the hell! I couldn't help being late on this day. In fact, I rarely come late to school (in fact it only happens a couple of times per year). The problem with some teachers is that they always think that you come to school late on purpose. Hey, I would rather not come to school at all rather than come late. And what about the swimming competition? Well, it was crap and boring as usual. I also came late back home because from the pool where the competition was held to the nearest train station, the trams were filled up quickly by the other students who came. I had to wait for three trams to pass before I got onto one. But luckily I only came home about 20 minutes later than usual. Written 19/2/04 |
