The next day, we had a discussion during Philosophy class about the conference. We talked about the bad points; the misquoted sayings on the walls, the mircophone problems, the philosophy challenge. We also discussed that debates don't go well with philosophy. This is because the idea of philosophy is to reach an agreement between all parties about a certain question; comprimising if you will. But debating is different; it is either black or white. My side is right, your side is wrong.
I also learnt about some terrible secrets behind the conference. About how the winner of the "wisdom competiton" came from the school where the conference was held. And do you remember the hypothetical? Well, it appeared that the reason why it was so bad was because it was actually IMPROVISED on the spot! All the actors had to get prepared was two pages of information about the philosopher they were about to act. Remember the "two page wisdom writer and question asker paranoid person" (wow, what a mouthful). Well he was also disgusted by the fact that the actors actually pretended to drink alcohol on stage as part of the act! He was also disgusted by the answer Mr. Singer gave to him after he asked his question! Some people just need a life.
Well, this conference only did two things for me. It delayed me from having me Maths test (I got a couple of days to actually study for it) and it made me finish off my History project quicker. How? Well, I was fed up to my back teeth with philosophy, so I couldn't do my Philosophy project, so I did something else to get rid of the feeling (my History project).
