| ..... weapons do against terrorists? Dr. Caldicott also claims that a nuclear holocaust was going to happen in 1995, because the Russians thought they were being invaded by the United States. Again, more Cold War hysteria about 50 years out of place. Sure, nuclear weapons are dangerous, but inventing these weird stories isn't going to have them disarmed. I find Dr. Caldicott's main message very puzzling. What is she really fighting for? Nuclear proliferation? Pacifism? Feminism? Equal rights? This confusing stage came at a section of the show which talked about one of Dr. Caldicott's books, Missile Envy. It explains how American men of great political power love nuclear weapons. Apparently, these people love nuclear weapons became they remined them of penises, I mean, what the hell? Surely military power comes into the equation somehow! She also talks to the producer about how she hates the word hysterical because it came from the word uterus. She is probably one of those naive feminist types that claim that all wars are started by men, that only men are violent and that if women ruled the world, there would be no more wars. That's just stupidity. There was also a part of the show where the doctor campaigns against the war in Iraq by telling people about how Iraqi civilians would suffer. I have no problem with that, except for the fact that she jumped on the War on Terrorism/anti-Bush bandwagon to persuade others on an unrelated topic. She even goes as far as to e-mail the Pope and pleaded with him to go to Baghdad so that the Americans couldn't attack it. She claimed that she couldn't contact Nelson Mandela or the Dalai Lama because the Americans would still kill them if they were in Baghdad. She claims to have predicted that Iraq would happen years before it actually did happen. Sure, she was pretty accurate. Civilians were killed, America consolidates its power. The only thing she did forget was the world wide nuclear conflict that was going to break out. Ah well, other then that it was accurate wasn't it?..... WASN'T IT? I might as well wrap up this rant here. I just think that there are some levels of insanity that are just too strange to delve into. It's people like Dr. Caldicott that give the peace movement a bad name. Her ramblings takes away the power that this movement potentially has to change public opinion for the better. While her actions againt nuclear weapons are commendable to a degree, she just goes overboard so many times you wonder exactly what planet she comes from. I agree that nuclear weapons have to go, but the methods that Dr. Caldicott uses is not the way to do his. She is literally doing more harm than good. There are always other ways.
