Censorship is a crazy idea. Why? There are numerous reasons for this. One reason is that censorship is in breach of freedom of speech. It doesn't allow the other side or team to tell their side of the story. Censorship makes debates even more boring by making them single-sided. I mean, so what if you don't agree with their point of view? Let them talk and make up your minds after THEY finish. Dictatorships always censor everything that is against them. Hell, they force people to listen to their side but they don't let them hear the voices on the opposite bank of the river, so to speak. It just doesn't work that way.
The people who are for censorship are always dumb and uptight. There are many pro-censorship groups out there. These groups are usually named something like "Citizen's League for Morality" or " People for Decent Literature". People join these groups not necassarily because they are fascists/communists but because they believe that they are helping the world solve its problems. They are somewhat contributing to stop "filth" being published. This belief is proposterous! These censorship groups are causing more problems than solutions. Sure, they might hate something, but then again, another group of people might like it a lot. Let's look at an example. These "moralists" want to ban pornography. Some people like and enjoy it (in fact, some people enjoy it too much). Yet these groups want to stamp it out because they claim that pornography is sexist and immoral. So what? It's not as if the porn industry is forcing you to read that stuff. Here's a hint Einstein; HOW ABOUT YOU IGNORE IT AND WALK AWAY? See, it's win win. Perverts.... ummm..... I mean people can read their porno mags and censorship groups can forget about banning them. Everyone is happy!
Have you ever relised how many popular books have been censored over the years? Books like the Bible, Odyssey, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and the Koran have all been at one time censored. In fact, I once read a book called The Day They Came to Arrest the Book by Nat Hentoff. It's about a high school divided over whether they should ban Huckleberry Finn because some believe it to be rasict, sexist and (get this) having too many grammatical errors. Eventually, the book was allowed to be kept on the shelves. Thankfully.
The creation of the Internet also created the idea of Internet censorship. Many people believe that there is too much freedom on the Net and that it should be carefully controlled. In fact, many people after coming to this site would probably want this site to be censored (if you are one of these people than I say SCREW YOU!!!!). Much ...........
