| .... help Cambodia's teacher shortage. It's straightforward logic, isn't it? I am not being selfish or anything, it's just that I'm doing a favour for the students at MVU that they shouldn't send teachers from Australia to Cambodia without having solved our problems first. When our problems are fixed, then AND ONLY THEN will we have the ability to fix theirs. Another thing also disturbs me about the ad in the paper calling for teachers to go to Cambodia. My education in the not to distant future could be affected because instead of teaching me accounting or IT, the teacher could be doing the same thing in Cambodia. Really, it is unlikely that I will chose IT, Accounting or Agricultural Science, but these are possible secondary or emergency subjects that I will have to do if I don't get selceted into my first perferences. And if those teachers are gone elsewhere, and mixed with teacher shortages, then I'm pretty much screwed. Well, as you have noticed, this rant has taken on a more subtle tone than my usual posts. This is because this is a serious problem that could affect me greatly. I hear some of you say "Don't you want teachers to stay away you and go to Cambodia?" Well, this is partly true, mainly for Art teachers, but seriously folks, why do I have to sacrifice my education, my future, my success, to get rid of some teacher for less than a year? I mean, he or she will come back and teach me the same subject next year. Pretty pointless in my opinion. Why only go for partial victory when full victory can never be achieved?
