Entry for May 30, 2006
I thought that "The Foreigner" was an hysterical comedy with hilarious performances by the lead character "Charlie Baker" played by Jorge Ortiz; and supporting characters "Betty Meeks", the loveable and warmhearted, but not too bright old lady played by Ida Steele; and the "Ellerd Simms", the dim witted but friendly character portrayed by the production's director, Damian Gillen.  Bark Clarkson was excellent as the ignorant, angry and racist "Owen Musser" and Lindsay Cummings played the lovey "Catherine Simms", who must deal with the treachery of her devious boyfriend "Rev. David Marshall Lee", the production's main heavy and a distant cousin of Robert E. Lee, played by Jerod Stephens. Brian Jepson a Stafford Opera House favorite, becomes the character of the witty, British demolition expert, "Sgt. 'Froggy LeSuer".

I highly enjoyed and laughed out loud constantly during Larry Shue's "The Foreigner" performed by The Company Theatre and look forward to when the the theatre group returns to the Historic 1886 Stafford Opera House in Columbus next season.
