Sure as superstitions go It was told me long ago By my own sweet, Loving Grandma dear. Never let a black cat pass In front of you, my lass "Tis a sign that there Is very much to fear. Never step upon a crack Y'll break y'r mother's back And by all means never "Neath a ladder walk. There are good ones too. If a bluebird comes to you, Sure he brings a note Of gladness with his talk. But the one I love the best Is the loving sweetheart test Where you pick a daisy And hold it to your heart. Say now carefully as you go Loves me yes, loves me no Go around the daisy Picking petals to the start. A ring around the moon Means a shower comes soon As do extra twinkly stars On the clearest of a night. Take a straight narrow road. Do not speak to a toad. And if you very lucky be Your life'll turn out right. Search, find rainbow's end You know, my good friend, That's the place where You find the pot of gold. Remember now as you go Superstitions of long ago Just in case they knew What way in days of old. A Poem By DC |
