On 09 November 2002, the National Society of Pershing Rifles will hold a Drill Meet at The Ohio State University. This meet is co-sponsored by the Governor's Office of Veterans Affairs. All Drill Teams should be at the French Field House at 0730, for Commander's Call and roll call, and competition will begin at 0800. 2. | 1. The National Society of Pershing Rifles will hold its Drill Meet on 09 November 2002. 2. The events are included on the attached entry form. Please turn in your entry fee of $40.00 with your entry form. 3. Commanders' call for all team commanders and advisors will be at 0730 in the French Field House. 4. All checks must be payable to The National Society of Pershing Rifles. There will be a $1.00 charge for the knock out competition. There will also be a $3.00 charge per cadet for individual/dual exhibitions. 5. All JROTC cadets must conform to current uniform directives. 6. When indoors and outdoors, proper Custom and Courtesies will be strictly enforced. |

| B. Eligibility | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Only cadets who are actively enrolled in JROTC at your school may participate in the drill meet. Cadets competing in First Year events must be in their first year of JROTC. Advanced team may include First Year cadets. 2. Each school is limited to one team per event, with the following exceptions: 2 advanced, and 2 first-year Color Guards. Each school may have a combination of 4 duets and armed individual exhibitions. |

| C. Regulation Drill Events(IDR) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Each unit may enter one team in both First Year Armed and Unarmed IDR. 2. Each unit may enter one team in both Advanced Armed and Unarmed IDR. 3. Each regulation team must consist of between six and nine members, plus a commander. 4. Each member of armed regulation team must be armed with a demilitarized military style weapon. 5. All regulation drill teams will compete in standard or service dress uniforms. 6. There is a time limit of eight minutes for every regulation drill event. |

| D. Exhibition Drill Events | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Each unit may enter one unarmed exhibition and one armed exhibition. 2. Team exhibition events must be a minimum of four minutes and maximum of eight minutes long. Time starts when the team reports in to the commanding judge and time stops when the team reports out to the commanding judge. 3. Each exhibition will consist of a minimum of six members plus a commander for a total of seven JROTC cadets. There is no maxumum limit on the number of team members. 4. Individual/Duet Exhibitions must be a miniumum of two minutes and maximum of four minutes long. Time starts when the team reports in to the commanding judge and time stops when the team reports out to the commanding judge. |

| E. Color Guard | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Each unit may enter two Advanced Color Guards. 2. Each unit may enter two First-Year Color Guards. 3. Each team will consist of four members: Two armed guards and two flag bearers. 4. The commander will carry an American Flag. 5. The Governor's Office is sponsoring this event and will present the winner of the Advanced Color Guard with the Governor's Cup. The 1st Place team of First-Year Color Guard and the 1st and 2nd Place teams from the Advanced Color Guard will have oppurtunities throughout the year to participate in Color Guard details for the Governor. |

| F. Inpection | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Each unit may enter one Advanced Inspection team. 2. Each team will consist of nine members, plus a commander. 3. Teams may be armed or unarmed based on unit's preference, but all units will be judged in the same category. Point of Advice: Units should conduct inspection as you are most familiar, but the less you have, the less the judges can cound against you. 4. The team will be evaluated on uniform dress and appearance, military bearing, and general knowledge. Genereal knowledge includes chains of command and common sense questions: "What is today's date?" or "Which is your highest ribbon?" |

| G. Knock-Out Drill | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Each unit may enter as many cadets as desired in the event. 2. The event will be unarmed and separated into two categories: First Year and Open. First Year cadets are authorized to participate in the open category. 3. There will be a $1.00 fee per cadet for each category, payable at the beginning of each competition. |

| H. Judges and Scoring | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Judges will be assigned for each class or competition, and the same judges will evaluate every team in an even category. 2. Judging will be based on the Army FM 22-5. Any questions regarding this policy should be directed to the point of contact. 3. Each team event will be given meet points for determination of overall winner for the trophy. Point scoring will be 1st-50, 2nd-40, 3rd-30, 4th-20, 5th-10. No points will be given for teams placing below fifth place. 4. In the event of a tie for overall winner, the team with the highest total IDR scores will prevail. 5. If there is a tie in a team event, the head judge's score will prevail. 6. Boundary violations will be -5 points for each infraction, for each team member. 7. All teams are required to verbally report in. 8. All armed teams must conduct inspection arms before the start of a routine and after the end of the routine. A penalty of -5 points will be imposed for each time a team fails to do so. 9. The scores given by the judges are final. Absolutely no appeals will be considered. |

| I. Logistics | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Weapons security is the responsibility of each team. 2. Please inspect your rooms before your team enters. Report any unusual conditions to the command post, which will be located in the French Field House.. 3. Food will be made available throughout the drill meet in the designated areas. 4. Floors used for IDR and all forms of Team Exhibition will be 84 feet by 50 feet. 5. Floors for Inspection will not have specified dimensions. Team Commander will receive instructions from the head judge prior to reporting in. 6. Color Guard and Individual/Duet Exhibition will be 50 feet by 42 feet. 7. Floor 4 is 85 feet by 41 feet; it will be used for color guards. 8. Floor 5 is 85 feet by 65 feet; it will be used for IDR with rifles. |

J. Awards The Traveling Trophy will go to the school that has the highest total points in the following categories: 1. First Year and Advance IDR with and without weapons. 2. Exhibition 3.
