History of Pershing Rifles at The Ohio State University
On 22 May 1925, P/R Colonel John A. Picker came from Nebraska to install Pershing Rifles Company B at The Ohio State University.  This began the nationalization of P/Rs that Ohio State had worked for.
Ohio State again took the initiative, and with a delegation of members from five other universities, went to Nebraska to press for a National Constitution.  Ohio State was again successful in making its point, and a constitution was ratified in 1930.
The constitution reorganized Pershing Rifles into a divisional structure, with a headquarters in Nebraska.  A Brigade Headquarters was established at The Ohio State University.
In 1935, as part of national reorganization, 1st Brigade Headquarters at Ohio State was abolished, and 1st Regiment Headquarters was installed, with Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) designated Company C.
Late in the Spring of 1977, Ohio State gave up 1st Regiment Headquarters.  In the Summer of 1979, the old 1st Regiment was re-designated 11th Regiment, with the Regiment Headquarters at the university of Toledo, and Ohio State remaining Company A.
In February 1990, the 1st and 11th Regiments were again reorganized, and merged together to form the 1st Regiment, returning Regimental Headquarters to Ohio State.
During the Spring of 1994, Ohio State gave up 1st Regimental Headquarters.  It was then established at the University of Akron, and Ohio State retained its status as Company A-1.  In the Autumn of 1994, Ohio State was removed from 1st Regiment and placed within the Second Regiment, under direct command of the University of Nebraska.
In the Spring of 1997, National Headquarters once again reorganized the organization and abolished all regiments and Regiment Headquarters.  Each company was able to do business directly with National Headquarters in Nebraska.
