Because the media has obtained copies
and reported on letters (July
7 & April 9) that I and Councilmember Kwame Brown sent to the
Deputy
Mayor of Economic Development concerning the Janney/Tenley public
private partnership proposal, I thought I would make the actual
letters available to the community. Since these letters may be too
lengthy to present here, you may access them by visiting the
following links to my website:

As many of you know, I have consistently supported vigorous and
energetic development along our corridors and transit stops. I
believe a comprehensive development at the Janney/Tenley site offers
significant advantages to the entire community. Nevertheless, as I
have also stated, I believe that there are certain essential
ingredients that must be included in order to make any development
at the site successful. You can read more about the details in these
letters.
I remain hopeful that a plan with these essential ingredients will
come forth.
Best regards,
