My brother is Chairman of a social and environmental enterprise organization
(not-for profit) called DC Greenworks (_www.dcgreenworks.org_
(http://www.dcgreenworks.org/) ) whose mission is entirely focused on green roofs - they not
only install them (which gives them a first hand knowledge of green roofs),
they also provide public information on green roofs, conduct public policy
research for local municipalities, and provide green collar job training for
underserved communities. They should know just about everything you'll want to
know about green roofs. They can also provide information on the location of
other green roofs.

They were recently featured in Bisnow:

To contact Sara Loveland, the Executive Director, call 202-330-8745. My
brother is Jim and he can be reached at 202-380-9023.

That is a great idea about getting cars out of the way so that the streets
can be sweeped clean. However, how does one know what the schedule is for
one's street?

Does anyone have that information?

Baby/Child Items for Sale

I'm cleaning out the attic and wanted to see if anyone in the neighborhood needs these items before I post them to Craig's List.  All come from a non-smoking house with a cat.

IKEA Solid Wood Dresser/Changing Table
3 wide drawers topped by 2 side-by-side drawers and a lip on 3 sides to hold the changing pad (not included).  Comes with a shelf which can be attached to the top, making the changing table a dresser for bigger kids.  Light wood with grains and knots visible.  Can be used as is or painted.  31” wide x 17” deep x 39” high (43” high with bookshelf in place).  $100

Graco Pack n Play with Removable Changing Station
Appx. 29” wide x 40” long x 31” tall when open.  Folds to 12” x 10” x 31” and fits into a carrying bag (included).  Dark blue with white mesh sides.  Changing table sits on top of play pen.  Comes in the box.  Barely used. $40

Fisher Price Cozy Fit Infant to Toddler High Chair
Appx. 24” wide x 30” deep x 44” tall in the highest position.  Reclining seat and head supports for infants, and 3 height settings.  Large plastic tray with one-handle release and 2 cup-holder slots.  3 point seatbelt harness.  Removable, washable waterproof pad on seat.  Legs can be folded up for easier storage.  Instruction booklet included.  $30

Delta Folding Crib
Smaller than a regular crib at 25.5” wide x 39” long x 39” high.  Folds to only 5” wide for easy storage in a closet or under a bed.  Very sturdy when open – bottom board is one piece and hinged to the frame, so putting it down makes the sides stay in place.  Light honey color.  On casters for easy moving.  One side raises and lowers.  3 years old and in excellent condition.  $50

Sit N Stroll Travel Seat and Stroller
Airplane/car seat with hidden wheels and handle that convert it into a stroller. Dark blue washable padded cover and 5 point adjustable harness.  For children 5-40 pounds.  Can be used forward or rear facing.  Great for maneuvering through airports, but a bit too rickety for long walks on uneven streets.  7 years old.  Includes product booklet and accessories.  $30

2 Evenflo 1050 Safety Gates
28.5” high, adjust from 25 – 41.5” wide.  Simple metal latch that can be opened with one hand.  Light wood finish.  Includes all hardware and instruction booklet.  Both for $20

Child’s Easel and Art Supplies
New easel in the box.  Red, blue, yellow and green wood frame with chalkboard on one side, magnetic white board on the other.  When open, 24” wide x 16” deep x 41” tall.  Includes crayons, chalk, magnets, paints and paint brushes.  $20

Huge Bag of Toddler Lego
2 15” square building bases, plus about 2 gallons worth of Lego blocks.  Includes pieces to build a castle, complete with a fire breathing dragon and knights.  These are the chunky legos that are great for smaller kids.  $20

3 Pop Up Play Tents
a) Red Fire engine:  2’ wide x 4’ long x 34” high with several holes to climb in and out of.  b) Yellow “Scoop” from Bob the Builder:  :  2’ wide x 4’ long x 34” high with several holes to climb in and out of.  c) Playhut set of 2 2’ cubes, 2 small connector tubes, and 1 lean-to tent that all connect.  $5 each.

2nd Story Burglaries

PSA 202
Burglary – 4300 Block Fessenden St. NW, 7/31/08, 930am – 330pm
Citizen reports that someone entered his home through a 2nd floor
window and took numerous pieces of electronic equipment.

----------------

From: Kathy Smith

It's a bad idea to go out and leave a second floor
(and definitely a first floor) window open. Someone
can put a ladder up and break in and the neighbors
will think the guy on the ladder is a workman who is
supposed to be there.

The sad fact is that a few of the legitimate workmen
may be part-time thieves.
