discarded doors available

I've got two doors that were sliding doors for a closet. They are each
79" by 30", hollow and would be perfect as a large surface for a
workbench or other work area. They are behind my house in the alley at
4431 Harrison St. Feel free to take them. If nobody takes them, I'll
have them removed by the DC trash collectors.

Beloved Wilson HS Teacher Fired

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

You may have heard about the unsupported firing of one of Wilson's
most beloved teachers, Dr. Art Siebens. Dr. Siebens teaches Anatomy
and AP Biology, among other science subjects. Hundreds of students
and families have been disturbed by this news, and have reached out in
various ways to help remedy the situation. Some students have
testified at the DC city council (with Michelle Rhee present), and
many more have written letters to the new principal and DCPS. They
have created a large grassroots campaign to try to get Dr. Siebens
reinstated.

If you are or have been a Wilson student or parent of a student, and
you would like to help support Dr. Siebens, the students have created
an on-line petition that just went up this morning at
http://gopetition.com/petitions/reinstate-dr-art-siebens.html

Since the petition was posted only hours ago, there have already
been 50 signatures.

You can read more about the situation and Dr. Sieben's very creative
and inspirational teaching at the petition website as well.

Thank you for your consideration and support,

Annie Mahon

Thanks for the map of the Central Business District. Personally, I like to stay off the sidewalk unless it's rush hour and the curb lane becomes part of the Wisconsin Avenue Speedway. (Or I go the "extra mile" and work the side streets on both sides of Wisconsin.)

As for the link, it was formatted nicely except for the period at the end (which breaks it). If you violate good ol' American punctuation rules and leave a space before the period, it should render perfectly, like this: http://www.ddot.dc.gov/ddot/lib/ddot/information/temp-traffic-cntrl/pedestriansafety/centralbusinessdistrict-map.pdf . The programmers have the code look for the first space after the URL to find the endpoint of the URL. Most people probably avoid this problem by making the URL a standalone paragraph, like so:

http://www.ddot.dc.gov/ddot/lib/ddot/information/temp-traffic-cntrl/pedestriansafety/centralbusinessdistrict-map.pdf

Local author (and Janney & Deal dad) David Kusnet will speak about his new book, Love the
Work, Hate the Job, at Politics and Prose on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m. Kusnet explores
employee dissatisfaction in case studies of workers at four companies in the Seattle area,
including Microsoft and Boeing, A visiting fellow at the Economic Policy Institute, Kusnet
argues that, to compete, American business needs quality products and workers need
respect and a say in the business.
