Experienced Nanny Available in mid-August/September

A nanny I know well is looking for a new position. Our son is good
friends with the son of the family here so Marie is often in our
house. Marie was also a nanny for a family on our street several
years ago and babysat for our son a few times when he was an infant
(she already had a position then). Please note that Marie is looking
for either a 4 or a 5 day position. Here's the note from Elizabeth
Frazier about Marie:

I am writing on behalf of our longtime nanny who is looking for a
full-time, live out position starting in mid-August/September. She
has worked for me 4 days a week for the past 3 years, and for one
day a week for another family. Before that, she worked for a
handful of other families for the past 24 years (all long term).
She is fabulous, and has remained a part of the lives of each family
with whom she works because she fosters such loving relationships,
so she has impeccable references. My youngest child is starting
school this fall so we do not need her full-time anymore.

I can't rave enough about Marie. She is a US Citizen, speaks fluent
English (but will teach your kids French if you want – an added
perk!), drives reliable transportation, and is healthy, reliable and
intelligent. She is experienced with multiples and with children of
all ages, from newborns on up. She has never "called in sick" and
has always given plenty of notice for vacation plans. She lives in
Takoma Park.

Marie is the perfect nanny. Please contact me at
Elizabeth@seedfoundation.com if you want more
information about Marie. I would be happy to chat over the phone or
email and provide further details. Or, you can call Marie directly
at (240) 638-6914.

Hit-and-Run with Green ATV

The vehicle in question is almost certainly the stolen "Gator" that the
Northwest Washington Little League keeps in a locked shed at Friendship
Park. It went missing at the tail end of last week, we think. It has not
been found yet, and the police have made a report.

Any tips on where to look for it would be greatly appreciated. The vehicle
is paid for by donations to the League's Field Fund from parents of Little
Leaguers. We also share it with other groups that use Friendship, so lots of
kids benefit from it for field preparation. It was also brand-new.

There used to be a man who came thru the neighborhood in a truck and
did knife sharpening. I lost the card I had to contact him. Does
anyone know if he is still around and if so, how do I contact him?
thanks!

Donate Books to Bright Beginnings

Posted by: "[email protected]" [email protected]

From: lefrancn@bc.edu

Would you help make a difference? My name is Nicole Lefrancois and I am interning at Bright Beginnings in downtown Washington. Bright Beginnings (BBI) provides free childcare and case management for homeless families. The care that BBI provides children allows parents to find employment/continue working, go to school, or participate in job training. We ease the pain of homelessness on children by providing nutritious meals, safe haven, stability, and loving care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Interning at Bright Beginnings has been an incredible experience (and I'm only four weeks in!) and one of my goals is to create a parents' library at BBI. We need a library for parents to find references on resume-writing, job preparation, child care and parenting, GED test preparation, and other pertinent topics. Thus, we need your gently used books on these topics! It also would be wonderful to have some fiction titles. Because our parents are at various reading and educational levels, books and novels that appeal to different reading levels would be appreciated. [We have plenty of books for the kids!]

As a non-profit with a tight operating budget, the creation of this parent library depends on donations from fellow citizens like you. The parent library will help fulfill our objectives of literacy and lifelong learning for both parents and children. As a born-and-raised Tenleytowner, I understand the services offered by Bright Beginnings are important to this city, and a parent library would only add to the outstanding care and assistance BBI provides. If you are interested in making a tax deductible book donation to Bright Beginnings, my email is lefrancn@bc.edu . Books may be mailed to BBI or I can arrange for pickup in Tenleytown/AU Park. If you wish to learn more about our programs, our website is www.brightbeginningsinc.org . Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you soon.
