I warmly recommend Carol Piwowarski (cpiwowarski@att.net) -- she's made curtains
for us and her work is meticulous and elegant looking. She's an AU PArk
neighbour.

My neighbors were followed home to Butterworth Pl. (between 48th &
49th) yesterday by a sweet white cat with apricot ears and face and
blue eyes and a purple collar. Please contact Michael or Ann at 202-
966-7298. The cat is hanging around outside (they can't bring it in
since they have a cat of their own but they gave it food and water).

Martin Levine - Candidate for DC Board of Education - Wards 3 and 4
Special Election. May 1, 2007

I'm a neighbor from Chevy Chase, and a candidate in a May 1 special
election to represent Wards 3 and 4 on the DC Board of Education.

I am a native Washingtonian and a graduate of DC public schools. I've
been a student teacher in high school, a university professor and
administrator, an education policy analyst, and a senior manager in
the private sector, building community partnerships. I've mentored
students at a NE high school in DC, and served on the Lafayette ES HSA
board. This is my second campaign for this seat. When I ran in 2000,
The Washington Post said:

"Mr. Levine's more analytical approach to educational
problems serves him well, too. His solid foundation
of knowledge would make him a valuable addition to a
board that needs a top-flight prober"

I'm prepared to work full-time as a Board member to bring real change
to DC's schools. On the Board I will: (1) Ensure that parents'
concerns are heard and acted on promptly by holding frequent school
meetings and creating an interactive website; (2) Address
unconscionable health and safety defects in our schools, including
fixing all bathrooms by opening of schools in 2008; and (3) Develop
partnerships with civic organizations, universities, and corporations
so every school has mentors, tutors, and curriculum enrichment
available by 2008.

I look forward to earning your trust and vote on May 1. You can learn
more about me and my views at Levine2007.com. You can reach me at
