SEEKING A SHOT AT BOARDING THE "HARRY POTTER KNIGHT BUS" JUNE 19
Deadline to pre-register for the "Harry Potter Knight Bus" is June 8
The District of Columbia Public Library is now
accepting pre-registrations from students in the 4th through 12th grade
who want to be among the lucky ones to go aboard the "Harry Potter Knight
Bus" as it stops in Washington, DC on a 37-city national tour sponsored by
Scholastic Corporation. On Tuesday, June 19, 2007 the "Harry Potter Knight
Bus" will be at the Petworth Neighborhood Library, located at 4200 Kansas
Avenue, NW, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Only students who are pre-registered
through the D.C. Public Library will be admitted on the bus.
While aboard the Knight Bus pre-registered students will get
an opportunity to record a 30-second video of their views of the Harry
Potter books. The purple, traveling Knight Bus-based on the one
featured in the books, is making its one and only stop in Washington, DC
at the Petworth Neighborhood Library. Students who are pre-registered are
welcome to come dressed as their favorite character from the Harry Potter
books.
To be eligible for pre-registration, students must be able to answer
"Yes" to the following questions: Am I in 4th grade-or higher? Do I
live in D.C.? Have I read the Harry Potter books? Do I have something
to say about them? Will my parent sign a permission form? Will an adult
be able to stay with me on the Knight Bus on June 19? Once students can
verify that these criteria apply to them, they must call the Petworth Neighborhood
Library at (202) 541-6296 or go to the library branch in person to officially
pre-register on or before Friday, June 8.
More information on how to register can be obtained on the Library's
website at www.dclibrary.
