After Council Action, Mayor Immediately Suspends Older Drivers Tests

From: Jim Graham <grahamwone@gmail.com>

Dear Friends,

As of today, seniors over the age of 75 will no longer be required to
take written and road tests to renew their driver's licenses. The
Mayor has immediately removed the written and road tests a day after
my committee voted, unanimously, on my bill to permanently remove the
requirements.

I joined Mayor Fenty as he made his announcement this morning at the
Campbell Heights Senior Apartments. The Mayor has shown leadership, once
again, by removing these burdensome and unjustified requirements while the
Council prepares to remove the requirements for good.

Please note that the required vision and medical examinations will
remain in
place. Only the additional written and road tests have been removed.

Bests,

Councilmember Jim Graham

Question About Plaster Problem

Posted by: "kathysmithindc" [email protected]   kathysmithindc

From: Anne M Novak <novakamj@msn.com>

My house is vintage 1920s. Plaster on one of the kitchen walls is
crumbling. It looks as though water seeps in through the brick
exterior, the plaster crumbles, and then the paint bubbles up on the
inside. Eventually the bubbles open and reveal the crumbling plaster.

Several repairmen told me that they can't find any holes in the
exterior brick and that the plaster should be reset in the kitchen
because after a while it just gets old. One guy told me he had
plaster in one area of his house redone every three years.

Has anyone had this problem and been successful with replastering, and
taking measures to prevent subsequent crumbling? Can you recommend a
company to take care of it?
Thanks,

Anne Novak

Free Wooden Porch Swing

Giving away a wooden swing and the chains from which it dangles.

Roughly four feet long.

Simple wood slat construction, natural stain with a coat of poly. Wood
appears to be in great shape.

Lots of character as is; would also look great with a fresh coat of
white paint.

Destined for a bulk trash pickup in the coming week unless another
neighborhood porch becomes its home.
