DPW -- Recyclings Bins

The slide system works quite well on Brandywine St., too. Also I requested and received a second recycling bin with no problem whatsoever. Came within 10 days and they were happy to oblige.

Lost stuffed bunny

Hi all,

You'd think I would have learned my lesson the LAST time my daughter's
bunny was lost, but apparently not - he's gone again. We are missing
an extremely beloved grey/brown stuffed bunny rabbit (a 'Baxter Bunny'
from Pottery Barn Kids) as of this Monday, April 16. My daughter and
her nanny were all over the place on Monday, so finding him is quite a
challenge. He could be in any of the following places: Georgetown
Hospital; Chevy Chase Rec Center; Chevy Chase Pavilion; or the
McDonald's in Mazza Gallerie.

I know it's such a long shot, but has anyone seen him?

Thanks.

Can someone give me a recommendation for a handyman they have used? I
have called several in the neighborhood listings with no luck. I need
someone to do a little painting, plaster and minor plumbing very
quickly. Would prefer one person who could do everything.
Thank you.

Summer of Safety 2007 -- Police Program For Youth

Summer of Safety 2007

From: Smith, Yvonne (MPD) <yvonne.smith@dc.gov>

Metropolitan Police Department
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE
300 Indiana Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001

SoS (Summer of Safety) 2007 Crime Prevention Program
202.727.9524 (FAX) 202-727-8809 (PHONE)

The Chief of Police for the Metropolitan Police Department in
Washington, DC has sent out an S.O.S., calling on organizations,
fellow District agencies, companies, members of the clergy and
more to provide her with a list of planned summer events that will be
properly supervised at little to no cost. This list will be combined
with a list provided by the department's lieutenants to make up a
comprehensive calendar of summer events that will cover the duration
of the summer vacation for youth who attend DC Public Schools. (Last
Day of School: June 14th) (First Day of School: Aug 25th).

The calendar will also include information about registering for local
police camps and Camp Brown, a one-week overnight camp, supervised by
directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.

The purpose of the SoS program is to provide the list of events to
public school youth and their parents before the end of the school
year as a way of providing options that might prevent summer-related
juvenile delinquency, oftentimes caused by boredom and lack of
supervision.

This year, the department will again utilize and disseminate the
information on printed calendars; the police website
(www.mpdc.dc.gov); through print, radio and televised media, as well
as a special police hotline 202-Im-Bored (462-6733) for the youth and
their parents.

We are also working to develop a MySpace© webpage and utilize
YouTube.com to get the word out to the District's youth.

Please use the attached Calendar Submission form to send us
information about your events.

Together, in partnership, through customized community policing, we
can help Take a Bite Out of Crime to make this year the Summer of Safety.

have been very satisfied. They've been in the biz for a long time.

Crime Trends in the 'Hood and Police Technology

Posted by: "kathysmithindc" [email protected]   kathysmithindc

Wed Apr 18, 2007 12:48 pm (PST)

From: Kathy Smith

GPS Systems are being stolen from parked cars in the 'Hood. Police
advise us to remove them from the cars when we park and leave the
vehicles.

Also, purses are still being placed in shopping carts, and on the back
of chairs in restaurants. They are frequently stolen from these places.

Assistant Chief Peter Newsham will speak on improved papering after
arrests and on improvements in technology to speed up the papering
process. This will be at the 2D CAC meeting on Wednesday, April 25
at 7:00 pm at the 2D station on Idaho Avenue. All are welcome.

Pet Food Recall

I want to make sure everyone knows that the toxic chemical has now been
found in rice gluten as well as the original wheat gluten. I would not
be surprised it it shows up in soy soon. The latest food to be recalled
is Natural Balance which is a healthy brand.

From: Kathy Smith

I have a box of gel packs -- free to anyone who wants them.
These are the bags of gel material that one freezes and uses
to keep frozen foods frozen for several hours or even days at
a time, if properly insulated.
