Is anyone else having problems and unhappy with the Washington Post
home delivery? My paper has constantly been arriving later than the
6:30 AM promised time of delivery. Even the street vending boxes are
not stocked by 7 AM in our area of Glover Park! Why can't the
Washington Post home delivery get their act together? If you too are
unhappy please send an e-mail to the circulation manager David
Dadisman at dadismandc@washpost.com

The D.C. government now has an online snow removal map -- known as DC
Snowplow -- showing which streets have been plowed or salted.

This should make it easier for D.C.
residents to plan driving routes when it snows.

F Me and mini-Me! Bethany and her little clone, Sandi, were pulled from a high
kill shelter two years ago. It took a while to place them together but it
finally happened. Then as bad luck would have it, their adoptive dad (who they
loved) died and his wife returned the pair. These beautiful shorthair dilute
torties are desperate for a home. Sandi has suffered through all the change and
long periods without a real home and is a bit withdrawn. Bethany, on the other
hand, is a loving and very sweet girl. They are now 3 and 2 years old
respectively. Up-to-date on all shots, tested, and spayed. What they need is a home of their own.
Could it be yours? Pls email me directly if you can help.

We'd like to recommend a really wonderful organic farm that we have been
buying from for over a year that delivers to our neighborhood. In fact, our
home serves as the closest delivery site.

Star Hollow Farm, members of the same cooperative as New Morning Farm
(Sheridan School), delivers right to AU Park each week on Saturday mornings.
This is year 'round, not just for a 20-22 week period in the warm season.
Their food is wonderful-it's even a green step up from Whole Foods! Plus,

it connects farm & city.
Order what you want each week, only the weeks you want to order, it works
like a store -there is no membership/obligation/prepayment. They carry
home-made jams, maple syrup, country cider, mushrooms, butter, eggs,
chicken, cheeses in addition to seasonal veggies. Place your order-they
prepare a box with your name on it. We host the deliveries, so all you need
to do is swing by our house sometime on Saturday morning and pick up your
prepared order. The delivery is straight from the farm in PA, all for only
$2.50 delivery fee, which I think is less than Peapod.

The food is seasonal; so check out the store site on
http://starhollowfarm.com/store/merchant.mvc The store opens early every
Wednesday through Friday at noon. Deliveries arrive early Saturday morning.
This is really an experience in freshness when the tomato season starts!
Plus, they are open to suggestions & feedback!
Enjoy,
Kate McLynn

SEVERAL CRIME INCIDENTS IN THE `HOOD

**** (From: tenleytown@yahoogroups.com)
My good friend lives on Yuma between 43 and 44. Last night [2-11-07]
around 8:00 pm they heard screaming coming from the alley directly
behind their home. Her husband ran outside -- a woman walking her
small dog had just been attacked by two African American teenage boys.
They demanded money and when she screamed, they sprayed her with
pepper spray. Thankfully, neighbors heard her scream and ran out to
help. The two men fled and besides the pepper spray, no one was hurt.
This was so close to us!! Be careful in the alleys!!

****(From: tenleytown@yahoogroups.com)
A neighbor was attacked while walking her small dog in the alleys
between Alton and Yuma St last evening around 7 p.m. The two teenagers
who tried to rob her sprayed her with pepper spray. Does anyone know
if there is any update from the police whether they caught the
perpetrators? We really hope they were.

**** From: Solberg, Andrew (MPD) <Andrew.Solberg@dc.gov>
Based on information given to us, we stopped a 16 year old boy and a
16 year old girl nearby. Although detectives are confident these two
people had involvement in the case, no arrest was made.

**** From: tenleytown@yahoogroups.com
A similar attack occurred on Albemarle near St. Columba's church on
Sunday evening, as a group of us was leaving church around 8:30 p.m. I
would like to hear if there are other known attacks and any updates.

**** From: Solberg, Andrew (MPD) <Andrew.Solberg@dc.gov>
I have not heard about the event at the church at 8:30. Was it
reported to the police?

I am a long term American University Park resident and have just
purchased Metropet Shop on Fessendun Street. Come see us!
We will carry many of the same high quality foods and supplies for dogs
and cats but also initiating some exciting changes. We wil be
partnering with Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and hosting adoption
events and other community forums.
Come talk to us and tell us what you would like to see the shop carry
and what services you would like us to provide. We want to be a true
neighborhood business.
