Positions GuideScience Officer This guide will help you to effectively sim the position of Chief Science Officer. On Federation starships the Chief Science officer is a very important yet often neglected position. Starfleet is primarily an organization dedicated to exploration and peaceful contact with other species. A Chief Science Officer is primarily responsible for monitoring the sensors when at his station on the bridge. There are long range and short range sensors and each will have it's own advantages and disadvanteges. Sensors will register other ships within range, planets, debris, or any kind of anomylous reading or natural phenomenon that the imagination is able to conjur up. It is your duty to report these events to the commanding officer on the bridge. You can sim this and interact with other officers on the bridge to have your findings confirmed or, for instance, provide tactical or navigation with your data so they can perform their duties more efficiently. Apart from this duty the CSciO also has responsibility over all other scientific research aboard the ship. You will have one or more laboratories at your disposal in which you can write about research you or your staff are conducting. There is much to come up with and the possibilities for simming this position are endless. Some people may think this position is boring and uneventful but with the right imagination it has the posibility of being one of the more interesting positions aboard a Federation starship. Remember too that as in any other position you can always write about what your character is doing in his or her free time. Interact with people and make up crewmembers to suit your needs. Be creative and have fun with your character. This is after all the main point of simming, to have fun creating an interesting story. |
