We live in a city that's called both "The City of Churches" and "The City of Strip Clubs."  This seems to be a contradiction.  In a city with about 400 churches, one glaring fact is the lack of unity in anything among them.  That in itself is very telling when examining the roots of the contradiction.

So when Common Union formed, it chose a name that reflected something Jesus prayed for: unity.  He died to make this spiritual bond possible and he lives today to help us achieve it by his grace.

The mission verse of Common Union is Ephesians 4:3-6...
"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you were called
- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all."

And this unity with God is also celebrated within the church in the tradition known as "communion," a ceremony which can be found in churches worldwide.  CU took it's name directly from it.  Since then, the wider "union" of fellowship & faith has branched out in exciting ways, embracing Blood Comes Ashore, Saints Never Surrender, Best Left Lying, SakeRed, The Mirgraines, and more.  No one band dominates or competes.  We just enjoy using the gifts God's given us.

Please don't hesitate to talk with us in CU about matters of faith.  None of us aims to shove religion down anyone's throats.  But religion isn't our aim anyway.  It's the Father of our souls who we're after, and sure enough He has been seeking us for some time.

So that's it.  The music will fade, but He will remain.  We strive to live for Him, therefore.  May His peace be with you.
