Compatriot Frank Cabell Silvey, Jr. died Thursday, 10 February 2000 at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
Compatriot Silvey lived in Fredericksburg for many years was living in Mount Holly in Westmoreland County, Virginia.  A Richmond, Virginia native, he attended public schools there.  He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy, attended Virginia Military Institute and was a 1948 graduate of the University of Georgia, with a degree in business administration.  After a short stint in the advertising business, he joined Beck Chevrolet in 1949.  He purchased the franchise when his uncle, Charles H. Beck, died in 1964 and renamed the business Silvey Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac.  Compatriot Silvey was treasurer and Vice-President of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association.  He was also a Member of the Fredericksburg Country Club in Kinsale and was the club's Commodore in 1985-1986.  He was a Member of the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, The Salvation Army advisory board and the Virginia Military Institute Alumni Chapter, and was a Ducks Unlimited sponsor.  He served on the board of directors of the National Bank of Fredericksburg from 1971 to 1997, served on the board of trustees at Fork Union Military Academy and was a Member of the Fredericksburg School Board from 1965 to 1971.  He was a Member of the Fredericksburg Jaycees, where he was elected Boss of the Year.  Silvey Chevrolet was a sponsor of the area Soap Box Derby for many years, along with the Free Lance-Star and the Fredericksburg Jaycees.  Compatriot Silvey was an Air Force Veteran, having served as a fighter pilot and instructor during Would War II.  Compatriot Frank Cabell Silvey, Jr. was a Member of the Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 Sons of Confederate Veterans in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Compatriot Frank Cabell Silvey was burried on Sunday, 13 February at 3:00 o'clock p.m. in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
