Pennywise the clown was a hard character to classify. This is mainly because of how he was depicted. He was depicted in the human-like form of a clown, the maniacal form of a clown-like demon with huge sharp teeth, a glowing "spirit" ball, and finally, a giant man-eating spider. So let's just throw out the idea that good ol' Pennywise is a being, and just agree that he's a spirit, or better put - a killer ghost. Pennywise has an ill liking for a certain group of children. He terrorizes each one, leaving them scarred for lilfe. Decades later, they all begin having dreams about the killer clown, and somehow all find themselves back in the town where they grew up, to take on Pennywise all over again, this time for good. Pennywise is credited for killing countless children, a few adults, and for making me afraid to take a shower for weeks as a gradeschooler. Clowns are definately scary, and I'm sure that this movie gets many credits for inducing clown-phobias around the world.
