Ace on Strange Ways:
I wasn't that secure with myself as a singer around Paul, Gene and Peter. They were all confident lead singers and even though I knew I could sing, they didn't encourage it so I kind of just laid back. "Strange Ways" was never performed live by KISS. I forgot how heavy it was. I mean it's really a heavy song. I have no recollection of how I wrote "Strange Ways." Sometimes I write lyrics first and then I add music to it. Sometimes I come up with a riff and add lyrics. I love "Strange Ways."
Ace on Parasite
"The "Parasite" riff is cool. I didn't sing on the original track, Gene sang it. I remember when we were considering doing it live for the reunion shows and Paul was telling me that I was playing it wrong (laughs). He said, 'You have to play it more staccato, you're playing it too sloppy.' I go, 'That's the way it was written...' My version was a little more legato, it was looser. I play it more flowing...I go 'Paul, listen to the fucking record.'"
Ace on Rock and Roll All Nite
"Gene and Paul recorded that in Eugene, Oregon I believe, during our Hotter Than Hell Tour. It was simple to record. It was your simple four chord party anthem. We never thought it would become our first big single. It happened first in Detroit when Dressed to Kill was released, which had the studio version on it. That really helped to break the band."
Ace on Strutter 78 and Double Platinum
I thought it was kind of a silly thing to do because I dont think the new version was that different. It was just extended solos and what-not. And as far as the Double Platinum record, Sean Delaney and Mike Stone, they did a lot of re-mixing of songs and we werent there at the time and I think it could have been done better.
Ace on recording Rock And Roll Over
Rock And Roll Over was a lot of fun because it was working with Eddie Kramer, who I always got along with. We recorded the album about 15 minutes from my house. Id recently gotten married and I got a new car and it was nice.

Ace about not having played on the track Sweet Pain from Destroyer
I think I was out partying or something and missed the session and they had arbitrarily just used him. He was hanging around the studio and he was a good friend of Bob Ezrins. Bob Ezrin had used him on the Alice Cooper albums. If I remember correctly I didnt find out about that until after the record was out and I think I was really pissed off about it. Now when I look back I think it was maybe Paul and Gene trying to punish me for not being available, which is okay.
