Fairies in the Pumpkin Patch
By MorganLaFey
In the quiet time of the night
before the yellow, harvest moon light
the fairies dance upon the dew
Jack Frost lays down the path so true.
Into the fields they prance their march
the harp and fife keep time
like butterflies they gracefully glide
from mortal glimpses they must hide.
The king and queen of fairy troopers
watch with boastful pride
their fairy "kinder" step so lightly
one might think they do this nightly.
Arrive at last into the field
where jack'o'lanterns breed
and here they carve a house or two
into the pumpkin meat.
On All Hallows Eve they muster
fairy guile and goblin luster
a prank to play by elfin leaders
on unsuspecting trick or treaters
And so they stay for 'bout a month
until the pumpkins fade
and off they go into the night
to find a Christmas glade.
