The Association's president, Master Edward Jacobsen has vast experience in various Martial Arts systems, which together with the knowledge he gained while being aprt of the South African Special Forces, enables him to lead Martial Artists to a greater understanding of techniques and Forms application.

Master Jacobsen started his training in Martial Arts at an early age by doing boxing. He then trained in Shukokai and Goju Ryu Karate. He left Goju Ryu to train in the more traditional systems of Ryu Kyu Kobujutsu, Yuishin Kan and Tai Chi, becoming an instructor in all three systems.

He travelled extensively in order to train in Japan, China and the USA. In 1987, Master Jacobsen trained under Grand Master Jae Joon Kim in the USA and upon his return in 1988 he was appointed Chief Instructor for Africa's Moo Duk Kwon Tang Soo Do Association. During subsequent visits to America he was graded to Master's level by Grand Master Kim and he currently holds a sixth Dan Master Instructor certification in Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Practical Combat Fighting and Weapons.

Achievements:
Master Jacobsen achieved his Springbok (SA Korean Martial Arts National Team) colours in 1993 and again in 1994, 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2001, although the National emblem had changed to the Protea in 1994. Since 1993 he has been both the team captain and coach, and in 1995 became world champion in both the Master Forms and Sparring divisions.

He is a Reiki energy therapist, as well as having numerous business qualifications. He is also an Instructor Trainer in SCUBA Diving and certified as an Instructor in security (SOB). He is qualified to train students up to and including Instructor level for VIP Protection, Armed reaction, CIT and Retail security.

Master Jacobson has also been instrumental in unifyig Martial Arts in South Africa and was the president of the Korea Martial Arts Authority since in inception in 1994. He is currently the president of the Martial Arts Authoirty of South Africa (MAASA), an authority which was sanctioned by the South African Government and to which all Martial Arts systems in South Africa must belong in order to gain recognition by the South African Sports Commission and Government. As president of MAASA it also his responsibility to assist the various systems of Martial Arts with the lodging of Bids to host International events in South Africa, guide and assist in developing MAASA and it's affiliates to conform with the policies as set out by the South African Sports Commission and Government
