| HOLY MATRIMONY For details of Weddings and Banns of Marriage please contact the clergy. As you are preparing for your marriage, we want to ensure that all your arrangements will go smoothly; that your Wedding Day will be a day to remember. We have prepared these notes which may help you with your preparations. BANNS OF MARRIAGE If one of you lives outside the Parish of Colwyn Bay then it is ESSENTIAL that the party living in the other parish contacts their Anglican Parish Priest in order for him to publish the Banns of Marriage in that parish. You will be given a Banns Certificate by that parish which you must then give to the Vicar of Colwyn Bay before the marriage can take place in this parish. HYMNS Please consult the clergy about the hymns you would like to choose before you order the wedding stationery. Listed below are some hymns which are sung at marriages. Lead us heavenly Father lead us Love Divine, all loves excelling Praise the Lord, ye heavens adore him O Praise ye the Lord Praise my soul, the King of heaven The Lords my shepherd Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation Come down O Love Divine Immortal, Invisible God only wise New every morning is the Love Now thank we all our God Lord of all hopefulness Father Lord of all creation Give me joy in my heart Jesus Good above all other O perfect Love, all human thoughts transcending This is by no means a complete list. Please do not hesitate to contact the clergy for advice. If you are not having hymn sheets printed, you may of course use the church hymn books. MUSIC You can have the traditional wedding music if you wish, or, if there is another piece of music you would like, the organist will be pleased to discuss this with you. You could meet the organist after the church services on a Sunday. PHOTOGRAPHS Photographs are allowed in the church for the entrance of the bride, the signing of the Register and the final procession. Photography can be a distraction during the actual service, this is why we ask the photographer to liase with the clergy before the service. VIDEOTAPE RECORDINGS If you wish to record a video of your wedding service please contact the clergy as soon as possible. Because of the music used in the service there are certain legal and copyright guidelines to be followed. There will be a small fee for the use of video recording equipment during the service. READINGS There is a limited selection of readings, and if you have a relative or friend who you would like to read during the service, please let the clergy know. FLOWERS IN CHURCH Please consult the clergy. MARRIAGE REGISTERS They are signed at the end of the service. You are both asked to sign your full name in your normal handwriting. The bride must do so in her maiden name. Two other people must add their signatures. They must be 18 years or over. WEDDING REHEARSALS These will be arranged at our mutual convenience. They are intended just to familiarise ourselves with the proceedings so that on the day, everyone can feel relaxed and really enjoy the day. Now that you are looking forward to your Church Wedding, we would hope that you will join in our worship in Church to prepare for your Marriage. It is desirable that you also hear the Banns being called on the three Sundays within a three month period of the marriage. You will be informed of the dates. |
