| CHURCHES & WORSHIP CENTRES in the Parish of Colwyn Bay with Bryn-Y-Maen ST PAUL'S PARISH CHURCH, Colwyn Bay St Paul's was completed in 1888 and stands in the centre of the town on Abergele Road. It is a large building designed by the Chester architect Douglas. Its tower can be seen from all over Colwyn Bay. The reredos behind the high altar depicts the disciples with the Risen Christ at Emmaus, the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary and statues of four saints - St Kentigern (who founded our diocese) and St Asaph (Kentigern's disciple after whom the diocese is named) on one side and on the other St Aidan and the Venerable Bede - two saints from the north of England from where many of the founders of Colwyn Bay came in the 19th Century. The impressive reredos is carved in limed oak. The Blessed Sacrament is kept in an aumbry to the south of the high altar. The bishops chair shows the Salmon and Ring emblem of St Kentigern. ST ANDREW'S CHURCH is in the West End of Colwyn Bay. It is a one aisled church on the corner of Lansdowne Road and Kings Road. The east window shows the Road to Emmaus and the beautiful west window scenes from St Andrew's life and ministry. The window above the font showing the nativity of our Lord was the gift of Lyndon School. ST DAVID'S CHURCH Services here are held in Welsh. The church is situated on Rhiw Road behind St Paul's Church and the Church Rooms. UPPER COLWYN BAY COMMUNITY CENTRE @thecentre "the Quiet One" service is held here on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5pm |
