Soundtrack of My Life Handout

Ms. Colvin

The Project Requirements

  1. Choose at least five songs that represent you at various stages of your life. You can use pivotal moments or break it up into three year increments- whatever seems logical to your life. The songs should be representative of you, not just favorite songs from your life- although, it is possible that those are one and the same.

For each of your five songs, compose a paragraph explaining its relationship to your life. Each paragraph after the first should begin with a transition sentence (moving the reader from the previous paragraph into the next). Make sure you include song title, artist, and main idea for each song, in addition to supporting information that explains the song’s relationship to your life. Also include a concluding sentence that sums up your main idea. And be sure to revise and edit your final work!

  1. Create a title for your soundtrack- be as creative as you can! Betsie’s Life, for example, is neither interesting nor meaningful.
  2. For Extra Credit-

You may earn extra credit for designing a CD cover for your soundtrack. You must include a creative, appropriate picture and title on the cover, and a list of tracks (song and artist) on the back. The cover may be computer generated or handmade.

*Remember: Use complete thoughts and sentences. Proofread your paper; if you don’t understand what you are trying to say, I won’t either. Watch your grammar!!! Punctuation and capitals are common mistakes among sophomores, so look for those mistakes and correct them before you turn the paper in to me! Be honest and straight-forward, but remember I am bound by law to report anything suspicious.
