Ms. Colvin’s Tenth Grade Lit/Comp Course
Classroom Procedures
I will guarantee you will have the best year in school you have ever had if you do the following three things for me:
1. Show up for class every day, on time, prepared to learn (materials at hand)
2. Come into the classroom with the attitude that you can and will learn something
3. Try to succeed
If you do these three things, I will do my part and teach you the material in as many different methods it takes for you to understand and learn.
Keep in mind:
Ø I am strict, but flexible, inclined to use humor instead of threats, intolerable of rude or disrespectful behavior, passionate about my subject, and willing to meet students halfway.
Ø If you disrespect me, I will call you out in the hallway to talk to you, but I will still speak respectfully to you. I expect you to handle confrontations respectfully as well. Every choice you make should come with an explanation. If you disrespect me or another student, you will be asked to explain your behavior. I will listen to your answer completely and openly. Just be prepared to answer!
Ø I know that you may not like me; that’s ok. You can still learn from me, even if you don’t like me. I can still teach you if I don’t like you. Let’s keep the lines of education open!
Ø We will have the maximum amount of fun allowable by law. Please bring your sense of humor to class.
