ARCHIVO EPIGRAFICO DE HISPANIA

The entries of over 25,000 inscriptions (Latins, Visigothics, Greeks and Iberians) collected up to date and arranged according to geographical criteria (by provincias and municipios exactly as the current Spanish territorial division; by distritos, conselhos and freguesias, like the Portuguese counterpart) are stored in this - as defined at the website - "document center specialized in the epigraphy produced in the land of Hispania", open to investigators and public alike. Part of the archives, actually being digitalized, is on line at www.ubi-erat-lupa.austrogate.at/hispep/public/index.php. The center, located at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, edits annually the journal HISPANIA EPIGRAPHICA , for which Spanish and Portuguese investigators revise a great number of inscriptions, new and old; the former after their publication in other periodicals along the year studied; the latter to be reedited with new readings and comments. Although the journal has reached the twelfth issue, for the time being the site only hosts the downladable (.pdf) epigraphical indices - excellent for exhaustive - of the numbers 5-6-7, divided into several categories (Nomina, Cognomina, toponymy, tribes, trades, etc). Actually, the staff is working on a CD integral edition of the ten volumes, including a joint index.
