| Just as I recommended, I have been carrying my diaper bag or purse everywhere with Kerry-Edwards buttons or stickers on it. It has been a very easy productive way to meet more moms who would be interested in joining moms for Kerry rally! If you see people wearing a button or other gear, approach them and talk to them about this website. I did it today at Nordstrom in the shoe department and talked to two interested women who didn't know about the rally yet! Isn't that great! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| THE SLOW APPROACH | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I talked to many women who were not sure who to vote for or who did not want to vote for John Kerry because of a single issue such as abortion or the morning after pill. In those cases, it is essential to listen to what those women have to say. Let them talk. Sometimes you will be surprised to realize that you might agree with some of what they say. For example, a woman could still vote for John Kerry but not really agree with abortion. However, she will agree with women's right to choose. There is a huge different between saying I agree with abortion and saying I do not want women to have the right to choose. Try to slowly make women understand that it is about constitutional right. Do not focus so much on abortion itself or religious beliefs because it isn't really the point and you might also lose the battle. If women do focus on that, what you can say is that people have different religions and values and we should not mix constitutional rights with religion. A religious woman who thinks performing abortion is a sin should still realize that it is a personal belief she has and that every woman, regardless of her religion was given a constitutional right to choose. Americans do have strong values and religious beliefs but one of our most important values is the separation of Church and State. No matter how strongly one feels about his or her own beliefs, we must realize that we have that freedom of religion only because our government has not imposed a particular religion upon us. If we start taking women's right to choose then what else will come next? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Kerry Campaign Statement on Late-Term Abortion Ruling. For Immediate Release. Washington, DC - Kerry spokesperson Stephanie Cutter released the following statement today (June 1st 2004) John Kerry voted to restrict late-term abortions but only where there was a clear exception for life or health of women. However, George Bush pushed through a different piece of legislation that failed to protect the health of women and that is what the Court struck down today. When John Kerry is President he will appoint judges that are committed to upholding the Constitution not pursuing an ideological agenda. |
