"If the Dispatch hired a reporter who made horrible mistakes and ended up alienating 1,100 subscribers, would you re-hire him when his contract expired? If you hired a business administrator, who, by a series of bad decisions, lost the Dispatch all of its profits and sunk it so deeply into red ink that the Dispatch would be in debt for generations to come, would you ask him to stay on? If he failed to live up to the expectations you had of him when you hired him, would you keep him in your employ? Of course not. You would not ask him to stay on to clean up the fiasco of his own making. You would fire him. Your endorsement of Bush is inexcusable." |
